Euganea Film Festival
From June 15 to July 3, 2022, the twenty-first edition of Euganea Film Festival will take place. The travelling event that takes cinema to the coolest places. Organized by Euganea Movie Movement, its aim is to spread movie culture and rediscover discarded places. Euganea Film Festival is an itinerant event in castles, museums, villas, courtyards, and parks to set up beautiful outdoor movie theaters. A unique cultural format, combining the high-level proposal of competing films with the promotion of the territory. Therefore, not just a film festival, but an event that connects the world of cinema with the Euganean Hills and the communities.
In 2021, the Festival supported the Bosco Fontaniva area of the Brenta River by increasing its biodiversity and improving the provision of water-related ecosystem services of river habitats, wetlands and agricultural areas of the Natura 2000 site. For the 2022 edition, the Festival, together with the support of Crédit Agricole Friuladria, wanted to continue the path of environmental responsibility by renewing the Euganea Film Festival “Climate Positive” initiative, which will allow positive impacts to be generated by leaving the land better than it was found. In fact, the Festival has decided to grow new trees in the Parco Fiume Brenta area that stretches from Bassano del Grappa, in the Province of Vicenza, to Padua and protect the Po River Forests. By protecting the existing forests, more CO2 will be captured than is emitted by the Festival, but trees will also be planted where they are most needed, helping to reduce the impacts of the climate crisis. Euganea Film Festival also deploys another initiative to minimize the impact on the climate: the Solar Cinema, a van equipped with a photovoltaic system that will cut down the emissions that a normal film screening inevitably entails.
